Colophon
”An inscription at the end of a book or manuscript usually with facts about its production.”
About mid way out one of the arms of a particular spiral galaxy, there exists a unremarkable gravitationally bound system centered around a G-type main-sequence star. On the third rock orbiting this star, in the late afternoon, of a month dedicated to an almost forgotten ancient god of war, the day after the celebration of another human that somehow drove all the snakes off an island, a human child was born.
The name of this child was Donovan. Now, that name isn't really important to remember because he never really went by or used it, but it was apparently fairly popular because of some musician that was very mellow and perhaps yellow too. For a time after that, the moniker of Skip was picked up somehow. Ultimately it was decided to go with Lance, since it sounded a little more mature than Skip and it was thought people might just take him more seriously. Unfortunately, Lance sounded a little too much like pants, and for some unknown reason other children seemed to think there were ants in those pants.

It was shortly after this phase of his life that education was no longer free, and they were required to pay if they wanted more. Lance seemed to be slighter smarter than the average bear and was able to earn what they call a scholarship that paid for the first of several educational degrees. Though he never noticed anything particularly hot or cold about this experience, and there also appeared to be no bears (it was assumed there would be other above average bears). During this part of his education, he was only moderately successful at learning how medical equipment worked and how to repair it when it did not, which they called Biomedical Equipment Technology. This was all at a branch campus of place of higher learning called Penn State. And while there were plenty of trees around the campus of this Penn State, he never did learn what branches had to do with any of it.
As it is typically with humans, he was born at a young age and then continued to grow into this very awkward stage of their lives that they call adolescence. This all took place somewhere in or about a place called Wheeling. Wheeling was located in a state that rather looked like a hand, with it's thumb sticking out and the middle figure sticking up. Wheeling was just about in the middle of that middle finger. But out of common courtesy and proper manners it was referred to as the Northern Panhandle, and not the middle finger.
Who remembers Pop-up videos?
The school he is talking about here is actually Wheeling Jesuit University, which is no long associated with the Jesuits and is just plan old Wheeling University.
Deciding that repairing medical equipment was not his life’s calling, and that it was not nearly as lucrative as he had been lead to believe, the decided was made, to go into management. This time he found another place of higher education run by these gentlemen in black robes, whom everyone referred to as "father". It was never understood how a group of men that were not allowed to get married were somehow able to have so many children. It was here that Lance paired his background in repairing medical equipment and the medical field to learn to become a leader or manager, or what they officially called Healthcare Administration, at which he was much more interested and successful.
After completing this education, Lance did something that all other adult humans seem to do, which is called work. Mixed in with these various work activities, he also ended up meeting a cute curly haired girl name Julie. Not long after that, they produced the first of their four offspring. After several years of doing this working thing, Lance again decided he wanted to know even more. This harder and more difficult type of education was referred to as a Master's degree, and you guessed it, he still did not noticed anything particularly hot or cold about it.
Pop!
Duquesne University is being referenced. The ghost part is connected to its originally name, Duquesne University of the Holy Ghost

There were also sadly still no bears involved anywhere, but he had expected at least one or two ghosts, holy or otherwise. This time Lance decided to learn more about his creative side and computers. They referred to this as Multimedia Technology. Mixed in with all of these others things, Lance also served in the Navy as a Corpsman, and then later in the Air Force as a Medical Service Corp Officer. He only recently retired as a Major, after an almost 30 year career. He now continues to serve and support his fellow veterans through his work as a Analytics Engineer for the Veterans Administration.
Lance and the curly haired girl are still together after over 25 years. Most of those offspring are now grown and at least partially out on their own. The youngest is still in high school and living at home. The oldest has ended up producing her own little offspring, changing Lance and Julie into Pap and Nuhnah.
Lance is at times a major nerd and science fiction fanatic, preferring Star Wars, Dr Who, Star Trek and the Expanse at the moment, plus a few others for variety. Action Adventure isn't bad either. He and his family enjoy camping, hiking, biking and white water rafting. He is very much a tinkerer and maker of sorts. Which often leads to the vexation of the curly hair girl that was mentioned previously. Is there really such a thing as "too many projects"???? He and his family now resides in a small town in western Pennsylvania called Indiana, which often thoroughly confuses people. Though he is finally happy because there are actually bears here.
