A Holiday Blessing

A quick little meal blessing I put togethers for our Winter Solstice Dinner

A quick little meal blessing I put togethers for our Winter Solstice Dinner this year.

Whatever your beliefs may be, I welcome you to this house and table today in the bonds of family, friendship, and tradition. We gather not in the traditions of dogma or science, but in the tradition of family. And while family can be confusing, broken, and a little messy, it is also closer and more loving than anything else.

Family is not just blood; it is the connection we choose and the bonds we keep. Today, what is left and what is becoming are gathered here together.

There are many sources of inspiration we could look to, but we focus today on what they all share: the hope that even on the darkest and longest of nights, light and warmth will return. In other words, HOPE. So, may the universe, and whatever you hold dear, bless this food and this company.

Please, let us bow our heads for a moment to remember and welcome the spirits of those who are no longer with us.
